As the Director of Speech and Debate, Laura Siltanen Hosman brings passion and experience to West Tallahatchie High School.

Ms. Hosman is a native of Hattiesburg, MS and a proud product of Hattiesburg public schools. She graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 2004 where she served as co-captain of both the debate team and soccer team, and vice-president of the National Honor Society.

Ms. Hosman has coached high school speech and debate for 15 years at programs throughout Mississippi and Colorado, notably including Hattiesburg High School and Denver East High School. In 2018, she served as an instructor at The Debate Intensive summer camp – one of the most prestigious and successful debate camps for middle school and high school students.

During her tenure as a debate coach, Ms. Hosman earned a B.A. from The University of Southern Mississippi in Political Science (2008), a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law (2013), and a M.A. from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.

Prior, Ms. Hosman served as a Production Editor for the Journal of Global Security Studies, a Research Assistant to the Corporations and Human Rights Database Project, and a Research Assistant to Professor Uche Ewelukwa, S.J.D.
